John approaches each challenge by getting inside the client’s skin. After all, he has spent most of his career hiring and managing agencies rather than working for one. His approach is to ask questions and listen for needs, then responding to those business problems rather than promoting products and services.
As a participant in Godwin’s brand team process, John provides insight for all major agency clients while working directly on those with specific needs. He has worked on Trustmark Bank, Sta-home Health & Hospice, Baptist Medical Center, Trinity Medical Center, Mississippi Department of Tourism, Hancock Fabrics, and professional service firms. His experience also includes the organization and structure of marketing campaigns and tactical planning. John has experienced particular success with direct marketing campaigns among both national and international cruise lines such as American Hawaii Cruises, United States Lines, Cruise West, and The Delta Queen Steamboat Company.
Over the years, he has added interactive marketing and research to his portfolio. Prior to joining GodwinGroup in 2000, he served as Media/Production Director for McRae's, then a department store division of SAKS Inc.He is a graduate of Mississippi State University with an MBA in Marketing. His work at Godwin supports his hobby farming habit.
